Premonition 01:15
When the shit hits the fan What will it be like To be your support When you want to walk When the shit hits the fan Can I be the man you need Your haven where fear has no room
2.
Faced with a dire outcome Uncertain, but not so far I chose you, to be by your side Til death do us part There was a time So many years ago It felt so distant (yet) Your memories are so near An oasis of peace In the midst of a storm There was you and there was me One fate, one life Too short in time One fear, two hearts I wish that you were fine Oh, anguish waits For this dying hope To rise and conquer all But not this day It felt like a dream but its over That moment we were in a haze Recalling the touch and the promises For a moment we were fine It felt like a dream but its over That moment we were in a haze Recalling the touch and the promises In that moment we were one One fate, One life Too short in time One fear, two hearts I dream that you are fine Oh, anguish waits For this dying hope To rise and conquer all But not this day It felt like a dream but its over That moment we were in a haze Recalling the touch and the promises For a moment we were fine It felt like a dream but its over That moment we were in a haze Recalling the touch and the promises In that moment we were one But the dream It would end
3.
Prayers fall deaf To an unresponsive God Nothingness Nothing can help us Your life withers In the mist of cancer Frozen as I sat there And I heard the words for you The average life expectancy, two years At best, five Glioblastoma Glioblastoma Glioblastoma Glioblastoma How can we live a lifetime in less than two years Two at worst but I hope longer How can we live a lifetime in less than two years We chose to live While we can Numb and shock From the words that we were told You look at me and then you tell me "So we wont grow old together" And I break The canvas of me and you and our family Is slowly turning white Take me Take me instead Thats what I said I just hope Ill have the strength to be with you and be there for you all the way Glioblastoma Glioblastoma Glioblastoma Glioblastoma How can we live a lifetime in less than two years Two at worst but I hope longer How can we live a lifetime in less than two years We chose to live While we can I want so much to be the one Who withers away With you holding my hand I know you will be safe And take care of me But its I who shall have this horrible Extraordinary blessing How can we live a lifetime in less than two years Two at worst but I hope longer How can we live a lifetime in less than two years We chose to live While we can
4.
Distance 06:06
Another day When the sun is hidden from sight Another morning reveals the distance Where a single heartbeat rests As the hours pass in shelter My mind flows to another mind In the distance As the day goes by Something remains By the winds calling Let it carry my words So I count each day It all ends with night In this darkened place Take my hand Take a walk with me, my darling Walk with me in hell I have such sights to show you Walk with me in hell So I count each day It all ends with night In this darkened place Take my hand Take a walk with me, my darling Walk with me in hell I have such sights to show you Walk with me in hell
5.
The demon in your mind will rape you in your bed at night The wisdom of ages, the lies and outrages concealed Time it waits for no man My future it is revealed Time it waits for no man My fate is sealed If I cancel tomorrow the undead will thank me today Fly in the face of your prophets I mock your morality plays The moon is red and bleeding The sun is burned and black The book of life is silent No turning back Only the good die young All the evil seem to live forever Only the good die young All the evil seem to live forever Only the good die young Only the good die young Mystery madman a victim of cruel charade Some innocent pawn in an end game one more stalemate Is death another birthday? A way to kiss your dreams goodbye? Do the undead live within us And look through our eyes? Walking on water are miracles all you can trust Measure your coffin does it measure up to your lust? So I think I'll leave you With your bishops and your guilt So until the next time Have a good sin Only the good die young All the evil seem to live forever Only the good die young All the evil seem to live forever Only the good die young Only the good die young
6.
Hold your hand Cool your forehead In vain but it is all that I can do See you fight Your heart not wanting to give in But this cancer it wont stop until its won Death and its horrid sense of finality I cannot grasp how life will be without you Your face may change Your words they might be gone But you'll always be my beautiful Now they're here To say good bye Your family arrived here just in time I let each get their moment And your parents take your hand Sit by your side Death and its horrid sense of finality I cannot grasp how life will be without you Your face may change Your words they might be gone But you'll always be my beautiful The path to grief is paved with love And I hope that I gave you enough Im going to sleep Distress and exhaustion Knowing you might pass in the night We hold your hand Sister and husband Convulsions manifest throughout the night May mourning come Death and its horrid sense of finality I cannot grasp how life will be without you I hoped for some more days Just some more days Ich vermisse dich

about

"Ventesorg" is the debut album of norwegian doom metal act Death of Giants, brought to life by Morten Søbyskogen.
Morten’s wife, Sandra, passed away from brain cancer in 2018 at 31 years-old. As a tribute to her memory, and as a way to deal with his grief, Morten started writing the songs which now make up the debut album of Death of Giants, Ventesorg (Anticipatory grief).

This concept album is built on a semi-chronological narrative, from the cancer diagnosis to her tragic death. The title of the album describes accurately what the album portraits through its melancholic gothic
doom atmosphere: It conveys the journey from a long distance relationship between Austria and Norway, the bond of two families, a wedding shaded by the overwhelming shadow of cancer and the inevitable outcome 3.5 years later

"Ventesorg" spans just over 40 minutes, and takes the listener through a sombre but complex journey with progressive songwriting and structures, while being firmly planted within the framework of doom.
